New to Rock Fishing

Hi. I'm self-taught (well from internet sites) with a couple of years experience from boat and shore. Local shops and anglers are pretty cagey and tend to only answer direct questions so general advice not forthcoming!

I live in Sardinia (Mediterranean) and I've come to the conclusion that catching big fish from the shore is only really possible from certain rocky deep water (20-30m) marks. So I'm looking for advice on "rock fishing". I can't get hold of any UK magazines here so even basic info could be useful.

I'm OK with light float fishing but need help on setting up heavier floats (groundbaits?) plus casting rigs, including types and baits etc. Not got the gear for spinning yet.

The "big" fish will be Ricciola (a type of Jack), Barracuda, Dentice - Dentex, Sea Bass and a variety of Breams, there are also conger and moray eels around (which I' rather avoid!).

Fishing is usually better when the sea is rougher so heavy lines and rigs, etc like in the UK.

So if anyone has any direct experience of fishing in the Mediterranean or relevent tips I'm all ears.
