hi to you all

hiya to everyone here , came across this forum after a quick search looking for answers , so thanks already and i'll probably drive you all nuts with more as my only experience of fishing was a cold wet morning sat at a reservoir in the early 80's ,didn't catch a thing and threw the tackle away (not a good start) so both feet first in the deep end and bought some fly tackle this time round ,yes I know asking or trying first would have been the sensible thing but I never fitted into that category . So here comes the first question ..this is a quote from Pross I just read in the general section .."You'll need a rod licence and also a permit from whoever owns the fishing rights" so doesn't the rod licence actually cover you to fish rivers ,reservoirs etc ? you need permission from someone else too and is that for everywhere ? and if you need permission why do you need a licence ? andy

Re: hi to you all

hi andy, first of all welcome to the forum, please dont be afraid to ask questions here , there are some very experienced anglers on here and you will soon get an answer,
the rod licence is required by law,you are not allowed to fish without one, what pross is referring to when he says about fishing permits and fishing rights is that most waters these days are usually controlled by a club or private individual who stipulate what you have to pay to fish their stretch of water,it may be a club that requires membership to fish all their waters or just a day ticket for one particular lake or stretch of river,
i hope that makes sense mate
