| New member Just thought id say hello and introduce myself as im new to the site. Ive been thinking about and promising to take up course fishing for a while and now find myself with the perfect opportunity to start. I live in Pontefract, West Yorks, and cant believe how many ponds, bits of river & canals are in a short driving distance. I used to sea fish every now & then but apart from the odd deep sea trip on holidays ive not been for years. As for course fishing, I will be starting from scratch. Ive read other threads from novice's and visited links etc & have found what I understood helpful. Yesterday I visited 2 local angling shops, one guy spoke to me for a good 45mins going through different types of course fishing, the equipment, day tickets, season tickets etc etc and told me to start off light float fishing and once I get used to that then carp fishing or using a pole (i think). However, the other guy told me to wait till next april for better weather and a full year on the rod licence. I can bear the weather & really want to get started but is waiting the best thing to do. Also any other advice for a beginner would be appreciated. Many thanks Andy |
