Hi all, Mark from Gloucester. Just got myself a beachcaster and reel, looking to fish the Bristol Channel and perhaps further afield. Main problem is I cannot remember a thing about tackle, rigs, baits etc so if any of you have any advice it would be very very much appreciated. Also, anywhere that you know around the Portishead/Clevedon/WSM area that is good for a go. Last but not least, if anyone is going out and doesnt mind me tagging along to learn it all over again then the beers are on me. Thanks all and its great to be back. Cheers Mark ![]()

Re: Hi all, back after 30 years, now all I need to do is remember! Hi mark and welcome. I`ve recently joined this forum and myself am just getting back into fishing after a 25 year absence. Like you I`m doing my best to remember but it appears so much has changed since then. I had a day`s free fishing at a premier fisheries site in Tingrith, bedfordshire last month and loved it. I`m now just putting the finishing touches to my list of gear and am going fishing at Emberton Country Park with a close family friend a week today. I can`t wait! Good luck with getting back into it!

Re: Hi all, back after 30 years, now all I need to do is remember! Hi Mark & welcome.. I started back fishing on the Bristol channel last year (minehead/Blue anchor), then moved up channel to Layde bay & Severn beach to cut down on the mileage.... I have subsequently changed to the South coast between Christchurch & Exeter. It is further & takes a lot longer to get there.... but at least the water stays in front of you for the whole day & night... I found the fishing more awkward the closer I got to Bristol. I have the greatest respect for anyone who can fish well up there, unless they drop litter. I'm sure you can hop around between low & high water marks on the channel, but i never tried hard enough to find them. There is an online tackle shop beginning with V and rhyming with eels that has some very usefull links on it for the B chan. Best of luck ![]() __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:>
