| Hi ladies and gents. I`m Alan from Northampton, 37 years young (mentally 13) and having been away from fishing since I was about 13. I have recently been feeling the pull back to the lakes, canals and rivers to see if I can still outwit the tiddlers. :) I was tempted back into it having listened to the Keith Arthur radio show on Talksport at weekends in the early morning (thanks to my 2 year old waking up devilishly early) and heard of a promotion organised by Premier Fisheries to get more people into fishing by offering up limited places at a local fishery where you`re given all the equipment you need for the days fishing. Which includes a 4M Browning Whip and everything else. Whilst I prefer rod and reel I`m still looking forward to my day at Tingrith Fishery in Bedfordshire next monday and have been loaned a rod and reel by a friend. Not sure what to expect as fishing with a whip is completely alien to me but I`m sure I`ll get the hang of it. Anyway, its good to be here and hope to have fun and learn a lot here too. Cheers |

| Re: Howdy Ho Hi Alan and welcome (back) to the fantastic sport of fishing. Whip or pole fishing can be great fun and I'm sure you will enjoy it just as much as fishing with rod/reel, specially at a canal. Looking forward to read about your fishing adventures. | Re: Howdy Ho well, I had my days fishing at Tingrith Fishery in Bedfordshire yesterday. I collected my free 4m Whip Rod, bait, a couple of rigs (as per the Premier Fisheries Promotion) and was loaned a landing net, mat and given some expert tuition by a very patient chap called Matt. I had a fantastic day catching about 12 Rudd (couple of ounces on average), a tiny perch and about 5 crucian carp weighing a couple of pounds I`m estimating. Some times I was getting a bite within seconds of dropping the float into the water. I`m definitely hooked after a 20 year absence and am now in the process of looking for a good value starter rod and reel. Thanks again Tingrith Fishery and Premier Fisheries!!! |
