has anyone got any tips on fishing for smoothound at selsey as im off there in May for an Army comp

Depends when in May .ive had them selsey west as early as late April so you should be OK,just pray for the weed to stay away.
No tips really as maghouse says fresh peeler on a pully,i m not a fan of big pennal crab baits but frefer half to quater of crab on a single hook and ive found distance matters at west beach.
I m sure lots will disagree though,good luck.

I agree with Gullyworm on both the time and the bait.

I hope you are not practising to try and beat that Navy in the inter service match later in the year! We never lost a match whilst I was in the Navy team.
