Re: fishing around newbiggin

Hi Adam.

I used to fish Newbiggin when I was a kid during my holidays. It has always been a good Cod venue even in the summer. I used to fish in front of the Coastgaurd houses.
There was a feature on Newbiggin in Sea Angler a couple of years ago that gave all the marks. Maybe a quick email to them might out you in the right direction.

WHY IF YOU'RE NEW TO SEA ANGLING STAY CLEAR OF ROCK MARKS !!!!!!!

never heard such a load of rubbish in my life.....instead of giving silly advice like that, why not advise beefy rods, heavier line, a reel that will stand up to the job - ROTTEN BOTTOMS.....

Re: fishing around newbiggin

i think he was aiming more on the saftey aspect-i live in ashington and have fished newbiggin for years-the rock marks aint for beginners when theres a big sea on-trust me!!
lynemouth beach behind alcan can thrown up some good bags-also the bottom of the cliffs at sandy bay-on a dropping tide.also try behind the houses on cambois beach with a nice sea on-and if yi like flatty bashin-the mouth of the wansbeck and the estuary holds some big floondaz-hope this giz yi a bit of an idea.

Re: fishing around newbiggin

I've fished the rock marks around Newbiggin for years too, and also Lynemouth beach is one of my favourite places - BUT - common sense should prevail when fishing from rocks! Once upon a time I hadn't fished from rocks - my point - you gotta start somewhere! So advice, in my opinion, like don't go there if you're a beginner - stinks - get someone to show you how to go on - thats the kind of advice you want to hear!
