Re: N/E locations help

the target is bad to get to now as the concrete steps are shot better to go a mile south to ryhope and go to the beach there or mile north and go to hendon beach , both have road access (ryhope just) from durham take 690 till you get to the pospect pub turn right and follow signs for grangetown , at 4th roundabout (hollymere pub) go right for ryhope ,turn right at 2nd roundabout and take first left at albion pub and first left again 50 yards after pub , road is narrow and will get you down to a bit of a carpark on beach
or take left at hollymere and follow road to 2nd r/bout (alexandra hotel) take 3rd exit (south) for ryhope and at lights 150 yards later take left follow road past ig factory and school after a mile you will come to some gasometers a drive with a gate house then a small lane to the right turn down this and go under bridge and follow down to prom and car parks this is about 3/4 mile long and i like the south end best there are 4 places to get down onto the beach or fish from prom

the boathouse i think was on the north side of the river by the old pier but if so it was knocked down years ago to make a new housing estate

The bit where you gave directions to Ryhope, down the narrow lane to the beach, the boathouse is to the right, that beach is known as the boathouse, then the broken steps (now gone) and the manholes, next, round the corner you have Ryhope Dene which leads onto the Hall beach Seaham.

** WARNING **

You can be cut off fishing the boathouse at high water, and a spring tide or bit of movement will see you pushed right up against the cliff !! And - cliffs are forever crumbling!

**DO NOT**

Take your car down the narrow lane to the beach when a heavy frost or snow is forcast - you will not get your car back up the road!

Yeah, thats right mate - Ryhope Dene... By the way, my mate had 4 codling for 15lb. last night at the manholes over low water! He said he lost a few too - I think his best was around the 5lb. mark.
