Re: Makarell Yes I meant Mackerel, thanks for putting me right. I have just been in the UK for two years so my English isn't prefect yet I'm probably going to try get some Mackerel in two weeks time, I will let you all know if there is any luck. What is generally the best spot for Mackerel on a pier, far out or closer to the shore?

Re: Makarell Tasmanian Jim, no worries mate. To learn another language is a long process. I also planning to learning some Spanish at some point, I'm spending quite a bit of my holidays there so it would be nice to be able to ask the locals about the best fishing locations That is good news about the mackerel! I will try to get some somwhere between Tynemouth and Byth.

Re: Makarell Hi Bjorn, give Blyth West Pier (the thin wooden one!), a try, it should be giving mackerel up now. Use feathers or spinners, or as I do for maximum sport, very light float tackle. It's great fun. Also the piers at South Shields, Sunderland and Seaham are starting very well for mackerel - usually first light or evening dusk tides are your best bet. Good luck matey..
