Thumbs up Mullet in Torquay

"Look there, there's another one" is what I heard from my office window this afternoon.

Looking out, I saw a few people gathered in a huddle staring and pointing at the water. With radio in hand I went down to take a look.

Yep folks (and DevonDave ), the Mullet have arrived in Torquay.

Let the Summer Games begin.

if they have just arrived then they wont feed for another 2-4 weeks but thanks for the info kiwi i will have to go take a look maybe a slow stroll on the way to work tonight will spot me some.

just one thing.. im guessing you saw them from right outside your work place?
unusual to see them there if they are not feeding yet.

Correct Dave, they were right outside my office in the shallow incoming tide, about 15 to 20 feet from the waters edge.

They skimmed the bottom then rose to the surface.

One other observation, they swam as individuals.

Re: Mullet in Torquay

Hi everyone!
I am new to the forum. My first post.
I love fishing for mullet in my home country - Bulgaria, in the Black sea. I have not caught any in the UK yet.
When I fished in Torquay last summer, I saw hundreds of mullet to swim by the Princess Pier at night. I could not catch a single one. I tried whole week.
Can you tell me how to catch mullet in Torquay, if it is not a secret of course!
Thanks!

Hi Vlad,

My office is right by Princess pier and very close to where I sighted my first Mullet of the season.

devondave is the Mullet guru to the forum, so if you give it a little time he may see this thread and answer you, if not give Dave a pm and he will answer it for sure.
