Re: Dolphin quays

Fished approx 3 hrs tonight in horrid weather, had lots of blennies, then about 8pm hooked into a mullet,it came straight to the surface and OMFG it was huge...it wallowed around abit before tearing off, played it for a couple of minutes and the hooked pulled....
Thinking that this mullet was the hallowed weight of 10lbs plus,I have had them to almost 7lbs,and this dwarfed that.
Real run of bad luck lately, last couple of biguns have pulled the hook.
Using drennan super specialist size 8,new hook every trip, and after every fish.
Pretty big tide tonight, plummed the depth at nearly 15 feet, fish took floatfished mackers flesh ,and the picture building is the most action on the first of the ebb.

Out again tomorrow, hopefully better luck this time...

Re: Dolphin quays

Just back from Poole - thanks for the tips re mullet - fished your mark - for a couple of short sessions
Day 1 - lost 2 and landed 1 at about 5 lb
Day 2 - 1 landed and weighed it at 5 lb 13 oz fish
My m8 also got 1 about 2 lb but that was about 200 yards away
One fish was on float and 1 was on a self hooking ledger - great fun - but tricky to work round all the spectators that appear - though both times I was grateful for someone to use the drop net !!!!
We also had a lot of small bream ,gobies wrasse etc in the harbour which was fun -
The 4 days out on True Blue were memorable - and we will save up for a return trip
Bad luck with the biggy Greyghost - I though I was going to fail also when I lost the first 2
If I can work out how to post a pic I will put on the day 1 fish - didnt picure the second one - pity I missed you !!
Peter

Re: Dolphin quays

Glad you got into some Pete
Just back myself from a short session, big sack of grounbait down first, then for a change sardine flesh on a bigger hook, size 6 as I had missed /lost the last couple.
10 mins in and float sailed away, hook up and I really enjoy the fight from these beautiful fish, long deep runs, head shaking, sooooo powerful.
Landed this timem and was bang on 5lbs.Two more followed, both around the same size,so a 3 fish session ...well chuffed after the last few disappointments .
Picture doesn't really do the fish justice, but still nice to get some up the wall finally....

This is a view of the "swim" and my float close in to the wall, this is about the furthest out I will go...
