Rookie wanting advice

Hi

Totally new to this game and was wondering if any of you could help.

I am currently trying to pre-bait an area, using maggots and mashed bread but i am running into some difficulties.

First of all the local seagulls and ducks keep stealing all the bread and ripping all the onion bags open.

Any thoughts on how i might be able to combat this?

Also the maggots seem to be disappearing within seconds into the mud and rocks.

How might i be able to keep the maggots in the area i am fishing?

Also how long would you suggest pre-baiting this area before actually wetting a line?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Many Thanks

Dave

Re: Rookie wanting advice

pour coke over your maggots /and or hot water , try to put your ground bait in at dusk, use brown bread so they don't see it so easy

Re: Rookie wanting advice

I like to do it for a couple of days at about the time I'm expecting to be fishing, to get them accustomed to feeding. Then I'm usually expoiting the predators that come to eat the small fish that come after the bread & larvae.
