The Grand Slam?

I am working very hard at the moment to complete the grand slam of mullet, thick, thin and GG in the one day. Just waiting for the GG's to thicken up a bit locally, possibly with this weeks smaller tides, and I will crack it as in practice I have been finding two out of three.

Musing over the plan (just a bit of fun, cos we cant do the billfish grand slam here.... and because the bass season has been dire to date) with a friend, he asked the question, has it been done before. Initially I thought of course it must have. But with the fairly local distribution of GG's, maybe not.

So, please could you assist me in my quest for further mullet knowledge. Has the Grand slam been done before?

Re: The Grand Slam?

I've never heard of anyone doing it either. It's quite some challenge though Rob, best of luck.

P.S. Forgive my poor species knowledge, but I'm guessing red mullet aren't really Mullet then????

Re: The Grand Slam?

Its coming. Found a cracking bed of reds this morning, but I will use them this afternoon. I think I will practice GG's and thin lips. Hit a good thick myself this morning, but I've been up since 4 (mackerel!!!) and I suspect my three turn water knot was only a two turn water knot. Thank god I was client free!!

Got a bass and mullet on the fly challenge on Monday, and then with lighter winds and small tides Tuesday, I got a feeling in my water that I might crack the three then. Hope so, cos I will have the cameras with me, and wouldnt it be nice to put it on video?

Baggie, Red Mullet are in the Goat Fish family. Thank god for that cos they are delicious, and I wouldnt want to upset this mullet forum...........
