Question Just Wondered....

I know mullet can be caught on the fly although from what I here it isn't easy! I was wondering whether anyone had ever tried using fly tackle to get other bait to them such as bread crust on a floating fly line? I'm sure it would upset fly fishing purists (most things do!) but I thought it would provide quite a natural bait presentation and without the drag created by floats and / or leads, the fight would also be great fun on a fly rod. Is this a stupid idea or could it be worth a try?

Re: Just Wondered....

what about a bunch of maddies or even a single one presented like you described,

what mullet could resist it ,got to be worth a try.

Re: Just Wondered....

i remember fishing with my grandad many years ago from the pier near to where we live, we baited a mackrel trace with small bits of mackrel and lowered it down to just below water level and tied it off, left it down for about an hour and had four mullet on it.
