| Re: first car Hi guys, I saw my name mentioned in vain earlier, and so have felt the urge to get all jobsey, and give hopefully a bit of useful advice. Two things really. The first is that Dorset, Hampshire and Devon old bill were/still are having a complete blitz and zero tolerence on motorists along the South coast trunk roads. If you get caught, you are stuffed. No relying on getting a friendly leanient copper (like me) who'll let you off with a warning, cos it ain't gonna happen. Second, there is a new thing that several of the traffic coppers are doing these days, which can cause you some serious grief. This is relevant as it is to do with sporty additions that make your car look or sound better. Basically, they will pull you over, and then photograph and write down any modifications. They will then ask you to sign to agree that they are a correct record, then they will phone up your insurance company there and then. Oh dear, you haven't declared them. This is called gaining a pecunary advantage, and is basically the offence of Deception. Not a traffic matter, a criminal matter, and all of the consequences that go with it. ie. record, fingerprints photograph DNA sample, the full shibang. This is not meant to be a lecture and I hope it isn't received as such. I'm sure it's a bit of an eye opener to a few, and that is the point behind it, to let you know where you stand. Hope this helps, Regards, Darren, the only nice copper in the village. |
