Re: Wine making can't help you on the wine but sloe gin is my thing..... keep on looking at the sloe's around here and thinking there nearly ready...don't hold onto the "pick them after the first frost"...the ripe plump ones have blown off the bushes by then or been eaten by birds....i hope to get out this weekend. don't bother buying expensive gin...but do make sure its 40%...lidl do a great one for £7 or £8 quid.... john __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size

Re: Wine making I've been making wine 5 gallons at a time recently. Started with 1 demi john & a youngs kit. Now have a 7 gallon fermentation vessel that easily makes 30 bottles a time. Doesn't taste very nice (forgotten nwhat shop bought tastes like) but brews out around 15% by volume. I use Tescos grape (sometimes apple) juice 20x1 litre cartons plus about 3 bags of sugar & boiling water to dissolve. If you have a large Wilkinsons nearby they should have a homebrew section. Last batches worked out about 50p per bottle ![]() __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:>

Re: Wine making ahhhgg dont use carton juice to make wine, it has sulphite and preservatives added, yeast wont work properly, gets killed by sulphite, always use fresh fruit juice ( squeezed or a juicer ) much better flavour. stopped making IT took up to much FISHING time __________________ good luck and tight lines chris lifes to short for animosity.
