computer virus software

When I originally purchased this computer windows vista I was offered Norton 360 as well for protection, now I an certainly no pc guru, but I have kept this up for a couple of years with the expense, £65.00 per year, for the privilige, its up for renewal again, I have had no issues with viruses unlike my other computer, religiously updated, but I have come to the realisation that windows vista is supplied with windows live essentials, which scans and protects the computer the same way as Norton would work, so why the hell am I paying all this money for something I already have built into the pc? Doh!!

depends if its an anti virus or anti malware programme .. Avast free works just as well but make sure you only have one running because to trick you they flag each other as potential threats ..
£65 a year worth of extra fishing kit me thinks mate !

I too know nothing about pcs and i also pay for norton for me its piece of mind
my sisters kids have contracted a virus three times on there pc and each time it has cost her a small fortune,she now also has norton and no trouble for 2 years
So the choice is yours my friend

Hmmmm. very true but if you already have a prog doing the same tricks why have too?

Microsoft security essentials and malwarebytes (anti malware , both absolutly free ,and work very well

I`ve only ever had the free ones ,you can check for the latest updates weekly ,so your always protected against the latest bugs and nasties

security essestials all the way, not only beacause its free but as it is microsoft it works well with your ither systems

I would recommend going to cnet.com/downloads for your free security programmes as there 100% virus free and have reviews too.
malwarebytes anti malware is free and very good and killing all the crap that gets sneakily stored on your pc ..
you can run this alongside any standard anti virus programme as it removes different things
