Longest walk.

I don't know why cider makes me think of stupid questions .

Anyway, I was just thinking .

What is the longest/most demanding walk anyone has made specifically to get to a fishing location.

I'm not talking about going somewhere half way up a mountain and then fishing, I'm on about SPECIFICALLY to fish.

Just a thought.

Re: Longest walk.

That's not a bad question. I have never really walked any major distance myself, but my friend and i did make a 30mile round trip on a bicycle with our tackle trailers on behind! Now that was a gruelling journey, we thought we weren't going to make it home at a few points. Other than that nothing really comes to mind.

Re: Longest walk.

Quite a few years ago, when I was younger than my waistline.....I used to fish of carp on the Medway in Kent, betweem Wateringbury and Yalding.
It involved carrying everything for a couple of days, about 2 miles, with a couple of steep hills. The reason we did it this way was that it was not safe to leave car in a layby for two nights, also the spot we chose produced a few fish, and there was no light pollution from nearby towns.
Downside was the walk back, which involved a gruelling hill, or two.

Re: Longest walk.

I think we can include self propulsion of any means as I cycled miles and miles as a kid. I think the furthest fishing related push bike ride was 45 miles or so to visit all of glamorgan anglers lakes in a huge loop. Probably the furthest cycled to actually go fishing is probaby 12.

Re: Longest walk.

Witches Point ,it's a monster uphill climb, but the fishing is usually worth the effort.

Re: Longest walk.

For me it was probably this little hike. I've walked further to fish, but never so laden down with tackle....

My longest walk is 2.5 miles in my home town in Turkey. Weather was nice and I decided to walk.

Re: Longest walk.

I think about a mile to mile and a half. Was in South Wales on holiday and had to park at a railway station and walk through a golf course, and out to a point. Was good for pollack I remember.
