1000 th post, some thoughts.

I have had the pleasure of being a member of this forum and now reach 1000 posts.

In that time people have come and gone. Some have started their own forums and continue to do so. I know because I have registered on at least two others.

The atmosphere on this one (and I am glad to say those mentioned above too) has remained helpful and reasonable.

If there has been any (rare) issue , it usually gets sorted quickly.

There's been very little, if any, stupid comments vilifying other posters for not being "in the know" or not using the current fashionable up to date BLUE trimmed reel (oh red trim is so last month, get serious). Oh there's a bit of banter and leg pulling but this would be a sterile place and as long as it remains friendly and people can say sorry if they inadvertantly over step the mark, great! New anglers can be reasurred that they will get some helpful advise if they are humble enough to ask or it.

Most of the long standing posters seem to be able to get on well enough and I suspect some firm friendships have come as a result of activity here.

There are some really good anglers on here too and what makes them special is that they are willing to share what they know. Do they keep the odd secret? Yes of course. No one in their right mind is going to tell the world where there's a sure fire bass mark etc. Mostly it's not because they want to keep it all to themselves, it's got a lot to do with the unfortunate fact that these forums are "trawled" by those who would destroy rather than nurture.

I am not going to ramble all day .

I just wanted to make sure that my 1000th post expressed my views of this forum.

There is little doubt in my mind that this forum (and the other two that came from posters on here) remains a friendly, welcoming and sharing place.

It's been a pleasure and an honour to share this forum with you all. True anglers all and gentlemen and ladies to a poster.

Tight Lines.

Pete.
