ebayers can be cheap lol the auction for my vitara has just finished on ebay, didn't sell, but was entertaining. although it failed the mot & tax ran out, it had a new soft top, exhaust downpipe, service & front brake pads in september about £350, box of spare parts worth about £75 at least & a £300+ body kit never fitted. tyres are nearly new & cost about £300+ had it all up for £650. now i know you never get back what you've invested in a car (unless it's a classic), but i thought i would get a sale. had 1 guy asking if i'd take £400 for the lot & another asking if i could go cheaper as it would cost him £280 to have the car picked up (i think he was after the body kit as he wanted pics of it & didn't really mention the car). in the end, the final bit only got to £165! i know we're in a credit crunch, but i think some people though i was going to let it go for nothing. only thing stopping me from breaking the vitara & making more than the £650 reserve price is lack of space, otherwise i would lol. luckily a guy who does serious off roading has offered me £500 for the car only, was reluctant to let him have it straight away as (apart from sills & small area of floor pan) the car, panels & drivetrain are too good to be wrecked off road, but just text him & hopefully he'll have the car. only thing left to do then is put the spares & body kit on ebay lol. i've had a few good bargains & got cars for well under their market value & then sold for a profit, but then i've also missed out on a few because i set a limit & didn't want to go over because i knew the profit margin would be very little. i just wonder what i would've been able to ask for it all had i sold it when the missus wanted me tobefore xmas lol __________________ www.mobilespanner1.co.uk

Re: ebayers can be cheap lol she wanted rid of it because it's only 2 door & has a small boot, she wants something more practical. got a peugot 405 estate to replace it, which the missus is much happier with, but i prefer the vitara for handling, drivability & my comfort. it did us well for out holiday (even if i ran out of room & had to strap my tackle box to the back bumper). only advantage the pug has is the rods fit inside the car, but it's no hassle strapping the rod bag to the roof bars. don't mention asking her to sell shoes, even our daughter had over 30 pairs ... before she was born! at least she's got rid of some handbags. saying that though, i spent about £75 on fishing gear the other month & the only way she'd forgive me was if i bought her a £25 handbag ... to go with the umpteen others she's got lol. __________________ www.mobilespanner1.co.uk

Re: ebayers can be cheap lol i agree, some sellers are too greedy, i know my vitara had failed it's mot, but would only cost about £100 to get it through mot, i would've done it, but haven't got suitable power at my garage to run my welder, but with all the extras that i was selling with it, i thought it was a fair price. i was watching a 1968 plymouth barracuda fastback with siezed engine for £4500 on ebay, i was looking at selling my rarer 1967 barracuda notch back for the same ... & it runs! i've seen 1 seller putting new bivvies up with starting bids of .99p for something that has £140rrp, they know that it'll sell for close to the rrp, then there are others that when buying price & p&p are added together, it costs more than driving to your local tackle shop. it's all swings & roundabouts on ebay. __________________ www.mobilespanner1.co.uk

Hi Asp383. Dont give up with trying to sell your car. A copuple of months ago,I put a boat up for sale, and maybe a couple of dozen people looked in,I was talking to one of my friends, who told me to try another site,so I put it on "Find a Fishing Boat",and it had been sold to a chap from Scotland in four days,so as i said dont give up,but maybe you could try anothe site. All the best with your sale. Dave Williams<0((((><

Re: ebayers can be cheap lol i know, i've got a guy interested locally, he has an off roader vitara & needs new engine, so just got to wait for him to make an offer. would break it properly if i had the room lol. sold the bodykit on ebay couple of weeks ago, so will sell some bits seperately. will be putting my barracuda up on ebay if i don't manage to get a job soon. being a rare & more desirable pre-1070 barracuda, i'm quite optomistic about it selling well. saw a brand new jrc 2 man bivvy rrp about £140 go for about £75 on ebay yesterday! so i know the bargains are out there. mind you, i would be willing to do a swap between my barrracuda & something similar to a warrior pickup with truckman style top. i bought a p reg 1.9d polo a couple of years ago on ebay for £600, list price was about £1500, so i know i had a great bargain with that 1! __________________ www.mobilespanner1.co.uk
