Raise a pint to planktonboys nipper. Advise anyone?

Yeah it's always good to hear the next generation of anglers has arrived.

With two girls myself (not including my long suffering wife) , I know what it's like to be a dad, though I'm willing to bet I''ve got a hell of a lot to learn yet.

I was always told that free advise is worth what you pay for it.

So here's my few tips on being a dad in the early days.

1. Learn to act. Snore on demand and mutter "No No not the hot oil" when shaken in the middle of the night when the nipper is crying.

2. When someone you can trust offers help TAKE IT, you'll be too tired as it is.

3. Real men DO cry. Looking at your kids as they sleep in absolute wonder is allowed.

4. Grinning like a chesire cat is allowed for as long as you feel it right..and then some.

5. Showing pictures of your kid to anyone and everyone is exceedingly boring for them. But they haven't just had a baby so screw 'em and show to your hearts content.

6. If this is your first it is wierd to hear movement at night. PLEASE look before you swing that old faithful pick axe handle you keep near the bed. I assume everyone keeps........maybe not. Need one for if there's a fire and the double glazing sticks and.....oh screw it, it's for untruding intruders.

7. You would never point a loaded weapon at someone unless you wanted them dead. Likewise infant orifices.

8. Small babies contain a white hole. You put 24oz of milk in a day. It pees 12, craps 12 and vomits 24, using the current laws of science, explain!

9. Grandparents always allow grandchildren to do all the things you would have been roasted for.

and finally remember , down the track, the most expensive words and father can hear from his beautiful offspring , "Daaaaad".

Heart felt congratulations to Planktonboy and one assumes Planktongirl and enjoy the months to come.

Anyone else got any tips?

Pete, Kim, Molly and Amy.

I still intrigued by the name Tilly. Was she the result of a romantic evening in a Beach Buddy, by the light of a Tilly Lamp when Mrs Planktonboy had a quick play with your rod? LOL
Seriously though Congratulations mate, Im sure you'll have many happy hours teaching her to fish & hopefully shes the first of many.

Ah ha! I DO have an excuse after all then!

10. Under NO circumstances should you lie on you back bouncing your bundle of joy into the air, immediately after they've had their bottle. If you really must, then for gauds sake, keep your mouth closed.

Congrats Planktonboy & good lady. No. 5 huh? Where'd you get the energy from????
