Southampton

I'm going on holiday to the Southampton area tomorrow (19th Aug) and would like to know of any recommended spots to take my five year old son sea fishing. Preferably a pier or breakwater where it't relatively safe, & there is a reasonable chance of catching something even if only tiddlers. We've had some success in the Whitby area where we live, but have no idea of reccomended baits, rigs etc. for the south coast.

Re: Southampton

Welcome to the forum tony
As for sea fishing in the area you could try the

pier at woolston
warsash spit
mouth of river hamble
weston shore (but a bit slow during the day)
ealing mill/redbridge
or calshot spit

I hope that helps, and for good tackle shops there are 2 that i would recomend

Sammies tackle on the A27 at Burlsdon Bridge
Al's tackle at Woolston on Bridge Road

Have a GREAT time down here on the south coast, and don't forget to post your catch report

Regards
Brett
