Bare minimum

Hi guys,

I,m on a tight budget but would love to get involved in kayak fishing. In your experienced eyes what would be the absolute minumum on kit I should have.
(obviously canoe and paddles inc !)

Looking at pictures of you guys on tour you have so much kit, fish finders, cameras and god knows what.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Bare minimum

PFD - buoyancy aid
VHF radio (mobile phone at a push)
Flare
Escape knife

Leashes for - paddle, you & your rods
Waterproof containers - mobile & car keys etc.

Dry suit or summer months - wet suit

Then depends on what fishing you want to do ...

Close to shore maccky bashing - just your rods etc - no need to anchor
Bottom fishing - anchor set up
Drift fishing - possibly a drogue

Then the usual stuff - bait box, tackle box, first aid kit, water bottle, mars bar, hat, sun glasses, suncream

If you really get into it - a fishfinder & GPS unit(s) with battery mounted, Nav light ...
