| Hayling Island Sunday 24/10/10 Lay in bed or go fishing - easy .... set off at 0600 for a dawn raid on some Bass ... tempted to hit Eastney but all those lycra clad people running about meant Southsea was closed for the day ... so Hayling it was ... Fished 0700 (on the water) till 1200 (off the water) - lovely calm day, northerly winds flattened the sea off ... together with a dose of Stugeron15 - no ground baiting today  Bloody cold though - air temp was 4c - glad I put the drysuit on ... Paddled out to the end of the winner - one rod on the bottom with plain rag and the other for lures & plugs ... Started pulling in a Bass a chuck on the rag - decent size as well considering - all about 2/3lbs - zilch on the lures ... tried all sorts but not a touch ... rag was catching every time - had about a dozen decent bass including one for my tea  Lesson learnt - dont let a deep diver dangle in the water when casting - it wants to dive as you want to cast - result snap and one diver in Davy Jones locker  Great mornings fishing - even managed a moving exit on landing and straight onto the beach - looked rather cool if I must say - impressed all the anglers on the beach "it was nothing" no way was I gonna dunk in the surf  Dawn ... | Re: Hayling Island Sunday 24/10/10 gonna have to have a bash next year Rob.. i canoed from devizes to westminster once for an army event ( no rods involved ) and have done a bit of white water in Wales and Sea up in North Berwick ...
