Re: Need a yak to get me going - a P13 or something similar please?!

GW - bigger the better (thats what the missus tells me) - go for a 13 footer (4.5m ish) long Yak - more comfortable ...

cheers gully, i'll keep at it.
it'd be rude not to since i've got the seafront about 50 yards away. i really don't fancy scaling up from my course tackle and tactics to fish from the beach (tho I did to catch my first tiny dab this week).
i'm only about 11 stone and 5' 10" so don't need anything too hefty and besides i'll have to lug it on me own down to the water and back so P13 would be as big as i'd want to go

Mate a p13 would be ideal, i bought mine last winter and ive not beach fished since. The great thing about it is that you can fish light and get into places no one else can, don't worry about lugging it about they only weigh about 27kg so you can throw it up onto your head easily and then set it up on the beach.

Re: Need a yak to get me going - a P13 or something similar please?!

managed to pick up a scupper pro so now moved my attention to a membrane dry suit.
do you think it's realistic to pick one up second hand (there is the odd one on ebay) but finding a half decent fit must be a bit tricky?
can't wait to get out there but it's brass monkeys!!

You might see the odd one or two on ebay - new ... about £200 ish ... vital to have one especially while the water is so cold - you will find you will wear it most trips anyway as it is surprisingly cold out there - even on a warm day !
