| Solent forts yesterday Arrived down at southsea about 0930 for my last Yakking trip of 2009 :'( The plan was to get out to the forts to do some plugging /spinning as long as the weather was ok. ![]() As usual i was billy no mates (Rob you are allowed to get your kayak wet) ;D The paddle out was pretty pleasent, heres the fort from about half way. ![]() As i get further out i could see the birds working around the area. You can just make them out against the ferry,WOW ::) ![]() Finnally made it to the fort , the tide was ripping and on the side of the fort that the tide was hitting i could see flashes of silver from the feeding Bass. ![]() There was already another angler out here who had spopped off on his way over to Langstone to pick up a Yak which he had bought on e-bay,a pilot launch was also fishing aswell ??? ![]() ![]() First two casts i had two small Bass, good fun tho on the light gear,a few minutes later i last what felt like a very good fish,it took line and headed uptide before chucking the hook :'( ![]() After about 45 minutes the tide eased and the bass catching stopped,i paddled around looking for some decent ground but apart from the submarine blocks its a pretty flat seabed out there. The bloke returned from Langstone and i had a look at his Yak.I think it was a Bic ??? After a while the tide started to push through to the west and the wind picked up against tide. I fished for about another 45 mins ,had a few more Bass and a couple of Mackerel and then decided to head back in as the wind was getting up :-[ ![]() ![]() I was back home by 1400,a short sess but very enjoyable and well recomended. I fished the harbour ,launching back of my house the night before and had quite a few bass on rag fishing the incoming tide in shallow water .The biggest went 3.5lb. Cheers all __________________ One day i will post a catch report again. |

| Re: Solent forts yesterday This yakking sounds my idea of sea fishing heaven. Love your reports and gutted I didnt invest in the gear early in the season as I would have joined you every time! Can't afford to justify the expence now, as will not get the useage, but will do next year, unless I can pick up a second had yak on ebay in the coming weeks. ![]() |
