Southsea in the dark on the Kayak 25/5/9

Nice spring tide, nice calm flat seas - can only mean the blocks again

Fished 1930 - 2330 (went home early cos is pi$$ed down and the lightning scared me

Fished the first few hours in daylight - plugging/lures over the blocks - zilch nil pwun ...

Switched to rag & peeler at dusk and into darkness ...

Had bucket loadsa fish - Smuts, Dogfish, Pout, Bass - nothing to write home about but all reasonable size ...

Splendid lightning show towards the Nab but coming my way & rain - so went home

Well done Rob - plenty of sport there....
A quick Q about Kayaking.
Do you always travel with the tide (in or out) to save on paddling, or sometimes have to paddle like hell to make little progress?

Both really - if you paddle with the tide/current it is much easier but against it it is hard work ... classic 2 steps forward one step back ...

I paddled about 1/2 mile against a spring 4.8 last night and that was hard work and but the currents run parallel to the shore so I just point and paddle like mad

Try and work with the tides/currents to make it easier but if you have a big tide drop - when you get back - the tide is out so a long walk or vice versa on launching ... all very technical

A whole new world ...
