| Wish I could join you mate. I have some happy memories of fishing in Ireland as a kid. Caught my first ever fish (A Perch) on the Shannon in 1963. Sadly it's a bit too far to travel. However a fishing holiday there is definately on my things to do list. Fishing & Guinness, perfect.... __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |

| Re: Days out What about you CJ, I Lived in Belfast for a year (behind the bakery, Upper Omeau Rd) I fished Whitepark Bay once, saw a bloke catch a nice Cod (red) a saw a boat come in from his nets with a nice Salmon. I also fished Ballintoy Harbour with a small lure, caught a Pollock, only small though. Went to Newcastle for a W/end once, fished off some rocks past the pier, picked up some peelers from the bay, caught nothing, I stayed in the pub on the pier for the night, good crack, not to far to crawl to bed. Also fished Bangor, again I caught nothing, but did see something that I have only witnessed once before.... rag worm on the surface in quite large numbers, think they must have been breeding looking for a mate maybe, was quite a strange thing.... Be interested to know where you go fishing. A mate I worked with from the same town as me in Kent married a girl from Turf Lodge, He is a J. Witness, he now lives off the Falls Rd.....How weird is that.................................. |

| Re: Days out Omeau bakery, now you're talking. Best bread in the world. Still buy it over here when I ocasionally find it in supermarkets. Their Soda bread is wicked. Quote:

| Alright lads. Thanks for the replies, thought there was something wrong with me there for a minute...lol I fish all up the north coast. Catch Ballan wrasse, small Pollack and Mullet out of Portrush harbour with a few Conger. Pollack and Wrass off the rocks at Ballycastle, Mostly colds and weed at Port Ballentrea. Mackeral and Pollack off Rathelin Island and all the above with a few Dog out on the boat from Ballycastle. I fished Port Ballintoy a few times but not much luck there, also Cushendall and Cushundun but lost most of my weights and lures so never went back..... A fishing holiday sounds good, I fancy going to Norway after the big cod but can't persuade the missus. Where ever I go though the day is finished off with a few Guinness.. Would be interesting to hear where you fish....Cheers. |
