Talking picking your brains

Hi all,
three questions for ya.
1. if i make up baits with the hook and line attached and freeze them, will it affect the strength of the line?
2. would it do any good to marinate squid in mashed up mackeral ?
3. can a multiplier be used on a fixed spool rod?

ya'd never think i'd been fishing for years would ya lol

Re: picking your brains

can only kinda answer the last one mate. a multiplier rod has more eyes than a standard fixed spool rod. i have always thought it a bit dodgy to mix them. BUT maybe people do??

i wouldent but i may be be wrong. someone will confirm or correct my thoughts soon.

I've frozen baits with hooks in and taces attached to very good effect and have not noticed any problem with the line strength.

Re: picking your brains

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies.
tried the squid and mackeral bait at the weekend and got myself 3 nice flounder, all around the 2lb mark :) Two lads up the way from me caught some nice bass the same day.

Re: picking your brains

Hi Ray,

Fixed spool rods have the rings spaced further apart. Multiplier rods, have them closer together especially towards the end where you get more bend.

If you imagine drawing a straight line from one ring to the next ie. the line, then bend the rod, the line doesn't lie properly. Difficult to explain. Easier with a picture.

Sorry, did a crued but effective picture but can't paste it on.

Hope you get my drift anyway,

cheers, Darren

were the muti sites on top of the rod an greater number of rings are need to stop the line from rubbing / slipping under the rod. Some longer rod's ( 14ft+ ) the ring spacings are such that both reel types can be used.
