FISHING ON THE BEARA

Paul Harris reports

While the weather has become a more unsettled over the past week the shore fishing on the Beara is still good.
On their fourth visist to the Beara Mark, Steve. Peter, Tom and Adam caught Ray to 8lbs, conger to 19lbs, pollack to 4lbs and one memorable day on a previously unfished mark saw Steve and Mark catch 20 huss to 12.5lbs and on plenty of occasions their 80lb line was bitten through indicating a large presence of good congers. The newly named ‘Norfolk Rocks’ will be receiving more attention over the coming weeks.
Danny Parkins and his fishing partner brought their spinning rods to the Beara and during their week long stay had over 500 Pollack to 8lbs 7ozs as well as the Pollack they caught Mackerel, Coalfish, Bass, John Dory, Ballan and Cuckoo Wrasse.
Reports have also reached me of a 17lb 2oz Thornback Ray taken from the shore. Hopefully more on this and a picture next week.
