Austrian, Italian & Slovenian Alps Hi Guys, In a few weeks I'll be heading off to the Eastern Alps (Austria, Italy and Slovenia) to kayak some of Europe's finest rivers. There'll be twelve of us heading out and intend to spend every evening camping next to the river with a few beers chilling in the shallows and a BBQ by our side. It would be excellent if I could focus my fishing skills into attempting to catch a few of the Alps' finest trout for such a BBQ... I'm unsure as to how the licensing regulations work in Europe and where I would go to find out which stretches of river you're permitted to fish on. I was hoping someone would be able to point me in the right direction for this information or perhaps offer any advice from personal experiences. Thanks for any help, Ric

Re: Austrian, Italian & Slovenian Alps Hi Ric My experience is that for Slovenia its worth doing some web research before you go to find out the local licence offices. Check out: http://www.flyfish-slovenia.com/e107....php?content.5 Like most places, its worth seeking some of the smaller more sparsely fished rivers, such as the Dreta for some quality fishing. A daily licence for fly fishing on this river costs E40 but, from experience, you'll be surprised at how productive it is and the variety of catches on offer. You can stay 200m from the Dreta at an affordable Villa http://heronsplace.com/ Subsonicgroover

Re: Austrian, Italian & Slovenian Alps Hi Ric, I live here in Ljubljana, and agree with Subsonicgroover. The fishing in Slovenia is very very good and licence can Vary from €15 for the Sava near Ljubljana going up to €75-80 for the Soca. On my first trip with a guide I had an awsome day catching over 25 small brownies and Greyling. If you need any more info let us know. Tight Lines. Kev.
