| Fishing in India Hia, I'm really interested in going to India to find out about some of the traditional and unusual methods of fishing there. I've read on the tourism website that there are opporunities to see Payavo fishing and fish Skeing, but I have no idea what these methods involve. Does anyone know what they are, or if there are any other unique fishing methods used in India (preferably around Kerala). Thanks so much Rosy |

| Re: Fishing in India Hi Rosy. What website was it you looked at and where is Kerala. I often travel to either Delhi or Baglore and was thinking of taking some rods the next time. I did watch a programme about fishing in India after Tigercats. Looked good. |

| Re: Fishing in India My good mate flies out there tomorrow for what I think is his 3rd trip. Here's a couple of links to articles he's written. I'm sure he'll be happy to help if you contact him on his return. http://www.fishingmagic.com/news/article/mps/uan/4657 http://www.fishingmagic.com/news/article/mps/uan/4789 __________________ "I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order" Eric Morcambe |

I think the backwaters of Kerala are a great place to fish, it's on the west coast, just south of Goa. |

I noticed there's a 'message me' link on his site, so I'll give that a go. Thanks for the tip |

| Re: Fishing in India Wow, I fly out to India on the 17th of January. I did some fishing the last time I was there between 22 Feb and 20th May 2009. Although I was there for three whole months, I only caught one fish. Its because I am a newbie. I did take a couple of rods back then, but had no idea what bait to use as well as poor choice of location (probably). This time I am armed to the teeth, joking, well I have 5 rods, quite a few lures, hooks, reels, brolly, nets including keep net and a camouflaged box for everything and to sit on. I will be looking at this post from time to time whilst I am there and will look into payavo and skeing. By the way, the fish I caught was a small Mahseer about 14 inch long. The area was 100km east of New delhi in the state of UTTAR PRADESH. |
