Its a Ballen wrasse ,not good eating ,shame its dead on a chopping board ,the Bass is a bit small to be dead in the kitchen too...Been fishing long ??

yep, def a wrasse at the bottom, bass at the top, yep you can eat wrasse, a boney fish, but cooked under a grill whole, and when cooked falls away from the bones, nice flavour.

Love Ballens ,one of the hardest fighting fish on light gear ,wouldn`t entertain the idea of eating one ....that looks like a good 4Lb + fish too

Well done on catching , there is a minimum size limit on certain fish ,which you need be aware off ,i believe the Bass is around 16" ,depending on where you are in the country .The Ballen is a cracker ,a lot of people wait a long time to get one that size ....

would suggest that you get hold of the list for takeable fish sizes, serious fines involved taking undersized fish.
