Non-stripy perch?

Can anyone confirm whether this is a perch?

Caught today float fishing with maggots (4 fish in total ... good day for me!!)

I know it's a tiddler but would also be interested to know approx. weight.

Thanks!!

Re: Non-stripy perch?

Thanks for clarifying.

So, you can get perch that are not green and stripy.

I thought it may have cross-bred with a roach or similar?

Re: Non-stripy perch?

I have read that the 'bars' or 'stripes' on a perch are variable due to water colour, and salinity, probably other factors as well, clear water perch seem to be the most vibrant, those that live in clay/muddy water are less so, also thoe that live in tidal rivers seem to have a hint of blue in the bars.

deffo. all you need to do is compare tench (for example) from a muddy lake to those from a clear water estate lake. ones beautiful and dark green whilst the other is washed out brown.

Agree with you both. Have always found perch that are caught off of weirs to be the more colourful.
