Re: Unknown to me caught at chesil tonight like mackerel but with a stronger flavor, because of the boney scales down their sides ppl think that they will be a boney fish but they are no worse than mackerel in that respect. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time.

Re: Unknown to me caught at chesil tonight It gets its common name from the legend that other smaller species of fish could ride on the back of it over great distances. Other common names include maasbanker. Not sure if this is true - just something I came across.

Re: Unknown to me caught at chesil tonight Alan Yates .. first mentioned in the old testament ![]() i like the horse chestnut answer purely because i have a suspicion they taste like crap , but im also liking little fish going for a ride on the back .. __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting

Re: Unknown to me caught at chesil tonight i had 1 of these last week at portsmouth around 18/20" long, the markings are almost identical to mackerel, black lightening marking, but the colour was a light sea green, are they just green or do they sport other colours like mackerel, blues as well as green? better still are they any good for bait ?
