| Fish Identification (non UK) Apologies for posting a non UK fish but wondered if anyone knew what these are? Me and a friend did a few hours fishing whilst on holiday in Mallorca, Spain and caught the following fish. This is obviously some kind of Jack what unsure of which kind, possibly a Green Jack? | Re: Fish Identification (Non UK) Hi chap i am by no means a expert but your fish looks like a younger one of these the shape and the fins are identical and i am pretty sure that they are silvery when young and darken as they age, they are also good eaters,i caught this one in Guinea Bissau http://www.fishing-forum.info/pictur...pictureid=3181 And if it is it is a leer fish but as i say its only a guess, good luck and tight lines SIMPLE Last edited by SIMPLE MAN; 04-11-2011 at 02:12 AM. | Re: Fish Identification (Non UK) It is a Learfish. They are found in the Mediterranean and in the sub tropical waters around Africa. They can grow up to 200lb and are ferocious predators. They give a fantastic fight and the smaller ones are great to eat. __________________ Check my blog for a daily fishing forecast from Weymouth, Portland, Chesil Beach & Kimmeridge Bay. www.fishingtails.co.uk |
