Unidentified perch-type fish in France! On a recent holiday to France I caught a perch type fish in the campsite 'lake' - anyone any ideas what it might be? Cheers! http://s836.photobucket.com/albums/z...nce2009292.jpg here is a photo!

Re: Unidentified perch-type fish in France! i would hazard a guess at a pumpkinseed fish or varient of....they are members of the family of fish that the american large mouth bass belong too. john __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size

Re: Unidentified perch-type fish in France! Many thanks for that John. I've just done some more googling and it would appear to be a sunfish of which a pumpkinseed fish is one type. I can't find an exact match but all the varieties look really similar, but they seem to mainly in N America. Another one to tick off the list! Cheers

Re: Unidentified perch-type fish in France! Me agree's, a pumpkinseed, I understand there is some colour differnces between males and females. I also was once told that there are some in Tanyards Fisheries, in Sussex, but that was some time ago, about 14years.

Re: Unidentified perch-type fish in France! What made it different from being a Perch??? If it was the same size of a Perch, it could have been a baby Pumpkinseed. They grow quite big!
