Re: How do you tell the difference between a roach & a rudd???

Roach will have a dark grey/silver body with reddish fins and a down turned mouth, the rudd will have a golden body with blood red fins and most notable is the upturned mouth. Have a look on google images to clearly see the differnces between the species.

Hope this helps,

BW

yep agree with blackwater also the roach should have vibrant orange fins compared to the deep red of the rudd .

Doesn't play any part in distinguishing the two species IMO

Re: How do you tell the difference between a roach & a rudd???

see i thought they're bodies were shaped a little differently, my local habitats roach, rudd, perch & pike, there has been talk of tench being in it but i have never seen nor caught one. i have caught plenty of roach this past few days and i thought some of them may have been rudd, but i wasnt positive. and tbh im still not lol
