john asked me to upload acouple of pics from when he went ice fishing in denmakr (think it was denmark anyway) so here they are, i will let him explain

What happens if you catch a big fish???? How do you get through that little hole?? Looks to cold to me nice catch very intresting to see how its done....

It was in sweden and it was a very cold way to catch small whiting and a few small haddock,the biggest was 2lb so i never had to make the hole any bigger
About half way through my stay the thaw set in ,the snow melted and the fyjord looked like a wet skating rink but the locals were still out there catching small whiting.
Speaking to the swedish divers they said in that area alone they have on average 2 fishermen a year go through the ice to a very cold wet death sounds great fun

When its that Stinking Cold, You don't have long to worry about it. You just go out, then under.
I wonder if a giant bungie jumping rope would work. The second you let your guard down it yanks you back to shore? Could get a little tedious walking back to you spot over and over.
