If weather continues as expected I should be out on my local lake lake between Christmas & New years. Lake is currently froze over but not yet safe. Today & tomorrow are to be above freezing with rain so it will be a little set back. After that they are calling for a spell of daytime highs of around -4C & nighttime lows around -11C. Should firm the ice good in a week or so. As I just got laid off from work I should have plenty of time for icefishing. Reports to follow when I do get out.

Actually I've been to Norway twice. Both times in Jan./Feb. above the arctic circle in the Tromso area and inland to the east of Tromso. These area's do tend to have quite deep snow. I found temperatures about the same as here in southern Ontario. The night before last it was -19C here. In northern Canada at the same latitude as Tromso the temperatures are far colder. And yes I have been there also. Time in the military tends to get one sent to some unusual places.
