Yes, it blocks the light so you can see down the hole and cuts the wind and cold

Well done Woodsman, it makes fishing even more enjoyable if it is for a good course.....you have fun and help at the same time......mind you I have to admit, I don't know I would last 4 hrs in that cold condition lol

$2000 that's alot of money....fantastic

At times yes but on this day not much. It was only -10 deg C, sunny with little wind.
Bloody hell us Canuck's are built a tad little more strudier than that.
It was a good spot for the stove to brew up a hot coffee though.

Best Wishes: Rick

The award for the coldest days fishing goes to........ WOODSMAN!

Flippin heck.

I've never seen the words "only" and "-10 deg C" put next to each other in a sentence before!

Kind of puts our puney "it was -3 last night" to shame doesn't it?

Re: Got out Sat. for a few hours.

Actually I've fished in much colder. -20 to -30 deg C.
One time we had to light a fire under the vans oil pan to thin the oil before the engine would turn over. When it gets that cold or when its breezy you want a good shelter with a heater. Fish though holes in the floor. and yes a bit of this too.
When it is really cold the ice sometimes cracks as it expands. This is a loud noise you can here coming from km's away.

Best Wishes: Rick
