Rhymney grayling today

Managed to get out with the fly rod today 1st time in about 6 weeks.
A rrived at the water in MACHEN a couple of fishermen with their course gear
already there had a quick chat nothing much happening on the maggots they reckon so we moved on eager to get our flys wet.
1st spot we tried i missed 3 grayling cold fingers was to blame ,maybe i was a bit slow.
Next cast well alittle fling up stream watching the tip as it came along side me
it jerked forward, raising my rod i felt a little fish on a lovely little grayling which
warmed me up a little bit.

next stretch got another 6 here only small but still great to be out even if my toes were getting abit cold .

The fish were mainly coming to the pink shrimp also 1or 2 to the goldhead.

No big fish but still great to get out fished for about 2 hours till the cold got to me finished with about a dozen small grayling.

I tied the flies on size 12,
no smaller in my kit so a urgent trip to the tackle shop soon.
The shrimps are weighted but could have been a bit heavier
with a tungston bead .
