Grayling on the Clyde I got given a fishing session with a man that used to fish for scotland (rivers) but i wasnt sure what to do. I wanted to river fish for the trout but the sesion was closed but I phoned him up and he suggested grayling on the clyde, I have never fished for grayling but i decided to go with that. Just wondering if anyone could tell me what its like and if its different to the trout or any other intresting facts that would be great. Thanks Ali __________________ What a tourist terms a plague of insects, the fly fisher calls a great hatch.

You'll need small flie's (Size 16 approx) & lightning fast strikes. Grayling will certainly sharpen up your reflexe's. Small goldhead patterns & sparsely tied nymphs work well. Good luck. __________________ "The fish and I were both stunned and disbelieving to find ourselves connected by a line." William Humphrey "

Re: Grayling on the Clyde Shoal sizes can vary. Sometimes it's just 5-6 good sized, but wary fish. At other times shoals of 50 or more mixed size fish are not un-common. They are however, easily spooked. __________________ "The fish and I were both stunned and disbelieving to find ourselves connected by a line." William Humphrey "

Re: Grayling on the Clyde thanks again for the response so if you hit a big shoal of grayling and didnt spook them would you catch a lot that day or do the move more often __________________ What a tourist terms a plague of insects, the fly fisher calls a great hatch.

Re: Grayling on the Clyde as soon as you hook one from the shoal the lot scarper! grayling fishing is great fun, it can be verry visual and aa bit frustrating at times when you can see a load of the buggers but they have long ago sussed you out! another bit of advice on fishing the clyde if fishing the hamilton area of the river...... NEVER fish it at weekends NEVER venture there with any less than 10 blokes over 14stone NEVER take too much tackle as you may need to run for your life ALWAYS make sure you are faster than the slowest member of your party ALWAYS carry a heavy priest of at lest 3ft in lenght hope this hasnt put you off lol just avoid this area, i have a season ticket for salmon on the clyde and have had many a scrape with the locals on this bit of water but i keep going back as the salmon runs can be good.
