Post Grayling

The Grayling is a species of an ancient fish called the white fish. Latin name Thymallus Thymallus Our European Grayling. So called for the scent of Thyme in the serected protective slime. Also known as "The Lady of the Stream".

Its habitat rages from the Spanish mountains in the North through to The Arctic Circle countries across to the North Americas.

It is a freshwater dwelling species and is a sub member of the Salmonid family, it has the charecteristic adepoise fin near the tail.

Males have a large Dorsal fin that is brightly coloured and that it use to attract the females in courtship. Females have a smaller dorsal and less brightly coloured.
