I know it hard to teach them who dont want to listen but I will try
fish by the nature of them when removed from the water will flap and fight to try to return to there home,
by placing that fish on top of a rock with no support for is tail etc have made it possible for it to fall from it onto other rocks and stones thus damaging slime and in the graylings case fragile scales.
if you must play david bailey either leave the fish in the water or place on some nice soft moss or grass
congrats on barbless hooks but that should be a rule of the river when fishing for grayling not just some excuse,
