Wailers singing The Blues

Okay so I’m not the most frequent of contributors to this forum (last post was a year ago – reporting about Dabs, StarFish and Crabs from Peterhead breakwater) , but then I’m also not the most proliferate fisherman.
Fishing six miles off the Algarve two weeks ago, with a rod that was a thick as a broom handle, line like rope and a tracer made from a motor bike’s brake cable (no kidding – it was) Blue Shark was promised and Clayton the skipper (an ex-pat) didn’t make false promises!
The boat Nitucha a 14 meter bright red and fairly stable vessel was well used, Clayton’s cabin boy, a great chap whose name escapes me is the spitting image of Zinedine Zidane. His footwork was arguable as good too, we had about a four foot swell and he danced around the boat all day without the need to hold onto anything, except his beer. Both worked hard with the rubbydubby and bate.
One of the best things about Nitucha is the sound system, Bob Marley and his wailers crooned away for hours, seemingly totally oblivious to the urgency of catching something or anything. Time passed quickly with a few cold beers.
Then it happened! My screaming reel was the hint that something big was interested in making my day. Twenty five minutes later and she was on-board, twenty five pounds of muscle and teeth my one and only Blue, a beauty!
My reel screamed even louder and hour or so later, but as I was the only one getting bites I let Peter (father-in-law) take over and land it. This one fought harder; well it was a forty five pounder, another girl Blue. Peter made fairly heavy weather of it, but got there in the end!
Both fish were tagged and popped back in, apparently a research organisation in the States will send us a baseball cap and certificate as a thank you for taking part if they are caught again with details of size, weight and where they were caught. Good idea.

It is 'I' the father-in-law with the shark! Hell boys I was a star (1600mm and 45lbs) it also had a nice grin with teeth (must add the beer was good also)//Pete
