!st trip of 2012

Christmas and new year at last out of the way, and the weather was nice, so I thought I am going to go fishing.
Armed with all sorts of bait, I had live ragworm, frozen lug, frozen peeler crabs, frozen squid,
and for the first time ever after reding up in a magazine, mussles (£1.08 in Asda for the moment).
I had emptied the freezer of all the leftover bait I had stored in there and of I went to my favourite mark here in Pev Bay.
The plan was to fish 3 hours in and 3 hours out.

Did not catch anything for the first hour and a half but then caught a whiting. Put the ittle bugger back and rigged up a 2 hook line,
the bottom hook with live rag, topped of with a bit of squid and the top one with mussles. Cast in en about 5 mintes later,
whiting on the bottom hook and a codling on the top,
woohoo a first for me since I only started fishing in September, and had not fished since November, because of work.

So now I am fishing, 2 rods, 1 with with a single paternoster and a 2 hook rig on the other.

All together 7 whiting and 4 codling. Not a bad result
The plan was for today, on my last day off, to go fishing on Eastbourne Pier
but woke up this morning to 60+ mph wind, which is here for the day apparently, so bugger!

Oh well, first trip of 2012, and a decent catch for 5 hours of fishing, so let's hope the rest of the year plays to the same tune

some times the cheapest baits can work the best. I used to find limpets and mussels worked well after a good storm.
