Weather Conditions on South Coast

My son and two mates toured between Portland and Brixham friday night / saturday morning trying to find somewhere to wet a line but were blown off by an easterly wind and large swell. What are the best conditions for chesil and surrounding areas.

Generally all parts of Chesil fish best during west or south westerlies, but the easterlies can produce some nice Bass if you dare brave the conditions. Also it's worth noting that Chesil can carry on having some really big swells for up to a couple of days after a gale blows through...
