| Weymouth july 10th July 10th was quite fishless After the skippers crew member Caroline told us about the big bream and pollock she had caught the thursday before and a wide range of fish that were out there- we were looking foward to a good day - wether started off poor but heated up after 12.Saturday must have been thier week off. Sadly all i caught was the worst sunburnt face ever- a couple of mackeral and pouting, but i did add to my species list a armoured plated orange gurner if thats how you spell it. Among us we did catch the usual amount of pouting - another species to list (skabb or scabb). two bream which i cooked as soon i got home marinated it in parlsey , butter and dark soy sauce baked for 30 minutes and ate it with some nice tomato herb pasta along with some pear cider. les seems to be our dogfish man claiming three off them. Newbies Robin and his son were happy with thier first ever fish on rod which were Wrass, Eriks new rod debuteed with good sized pollock which managed to wiggle off before he could claim any big money prize!!!!. Skipper Jeff Clarke gave us opportunies to fish for cod- bass-ray-turbot conger, but without any reward. overall all the over boats out from weymouth were also recording quite days. | Re: Weymouth july 10th sounds like quite an eventfull day fella...think the fish are all on a long weekend vacation to somewhere cooler lol.. As for your species i assume it was a red gurnard you caught and also i see mention of a skabb ? few of them in Weymouth ! but i guess you mean a Scad ( horse mackerel ) ..out of interest were you drifting the Shambles bank ? | Re: Weymouth july 10th We fished it all- done 24 mile ALL ROUND trip in all - wreck-drifting-sandbanks shambles mackerel - cod and bream was our main focus still looking at buying a good reel and rod combo for as little as possible - ships hire rods pretty old and only ideal for beginners. If you or anyone on this forum have a ideal where i get one for good price, or even have one that they have upgrraded from let us know!!! your proberly right on the Scad ( horse mackerel ) .. but we did catch some wrass last trip out |

| Re: Weymouth july 10th It was a tough one but days either side were plentiful- so like the lottery its just luck of the draw. Going out on AUGUST 28th next. also got scottish and mental wanting to be our mentor!!! which sounds a good idea- make us anglers rather than rod dippers!!!! |
