A few nice flounder

Had 9 flounder last night at high tide, target bass but no joy but a fish is a fish. Didnt take pic of everyone, here is the 1st one. Small i agree but its still early for me. My biggest ever flounder was just over 2lb. We do get some big flatties in oct-dec. Had my biggest turbot last year just under 2lb. Greedy fish flatties i had a couple of rag on there, normaly for flatties my baits are tiny on a size 4, they took a size 2/0. Tight lines

Re: A few nice flounder

Fishing over here dave is hard at the best of times loads of big flounder, turbot in oct/dec. Plenty of dogs. Collies, pollock, codling are around the 1lb mark off the shore. Bigger fish of the boat not much bigger but better. Trawlers destroyed the sea bed years ago long lining etc and some big cod were taken and that was done often, one place were there were big turbot 18lbders (I know of one guy who caught one years ago @18lb off the beach) and flounders and the trawlers came right in and cleaned it,one day i saw 5 trawlers and they were only yards out from the shore. Anyway i cant wait to see all the pics from your end of the water guys, the pics of lee and that bass and his pb cod is what shore fishing is all about, and thats not including everyonelses catch some quite breath taking. I get the same buzz watching someonelse catch a fish as if i caught it myself, so guys good luck to you all and tight lines.

Nice one Paul. Shame about the Bass, but at least not a blank.

Re: A few nice flounder

Lee they are very small size mate, this is the 1st ever year ive fished period on the shore in my life at this side of the year. As the year goes on ill show you bin lid size flounders and some nice size turbot. Im going back to match fishing which starts september time-jan and il give you all the reports as they happen, and some opens can produce big flatties and the odd big mullet. A shop gets good rag in now and as long as he has il be fishing. Catchimg flatties is not hard at all, if they are there youl catch them if not you wont. You guys have some big fish in them waters ide swap anyday of the week, cause i know as the year unfolds there are going to be some size fish caught your end lee that im sure on. Tight lines Ps please all say a prayer for our secetary in our boat club, he has been fighting cancer for a while now and he is a great person and one of the best boat anglers i know.
